Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmer has named a starting quarterback for Friday’s preseason opener against the Lions at Ford Field on Friday and it is rookie Brandon Weeden. The announcement isn’t particularly surprising but it is now official.
Weeden will square off against Matthew Stafford – fitting considering both are NFL anomalies considering their ages.
Matthew Stafford enters his fourth year with a playoff appearance and 5,000 yard season under his belt despite being just 24-years old. Weeden will make his pro debut at the ripe age of 28. Add it up and Stafford has three years of NFL experience over Weeden despite being almost three and a half years younger.
Ndamukong Suh has greeted NFL quarterbacks from Ohio poorly in each of the last two preseaons. Consider yourself warned, Brandon.
