According to the team’s website, the Detroit Lions signed Justin Miller who is primarily a kick returner, but has played corner back in the past.
Miller is a former Pro Bowler who has spent time with the Jets and Raiders. He was drafted in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
Although Miller is a former Pro Bowler, he has not played since 2009.
Several websites are reporting that Miller is in the mix for the open corner back position, left vacant following the release of Aaron Berry, but it makes more sense to believe that he was signed to compete against Stefan Logan, Dontrell Johnson and Titus Young at the kick returner position.
It is unknown who the Lions released in order for the team to have the space to add Miller, but if he was in fact brought in to compete as a return specialist, it would not be surprising if undrafted free agent Dontrell Johnson was cut. However, this is only speculation.
