Lions defensive tackle Corey Williams was arrested in 2011 for DWI and not only is the football blogosphere finding out about it this week, but so are the Detroit Lions.
“Corey did not report this incident to us when it happened due to the prohibition of contact during last year’s work stoppage,” the team announced today.
Williams was pulled over in Arkansas last offseason and failed a field sobriety test at the scene of the incident after police suspected drunk driving when the defensive tackle crossed the center line of the road he was driving on.
Along with his lawyer, Williams appeared in court in Arkansas this week and District Judge Ken Harper is expected to rule within the next week, according to several sources.
This tirade of news piles on top of the arm’s length list of arrests the Lions have already dealt with this offseason.
