It’s been almost exactly nine months since Jahvid suffered a concussion against the San Francisco 49ers that kept him out for the remainder of the 2011 season. He was able to participate in the team’s offseason activities but those did not involve contact. That obviously changes when the Lions start training camp late next week.
So, is Best cleared for contact at camp?
The info isn’t clear, at least what mlive.com’s Anwar Richardson was able to get out of Jahvid Best’s representation:

The non-alarmist perspective is to suggest that since contact drills haven’t been part of workout so far there hasn’t been a reason to specifically clear him for that kind of activity. If that’s the case it is possible that he’ll be evaluated when he reports to camp, hopefully to be cleared then.
The other possibility is that Best has been evaluated and it didn’t go well. It’s all mindless speculation until something definitive is known but it will be a big story to watch as camp begins. It’s possible we won’t know anything until he does or doesn’t show up on the practice field.
