Ndamukong Suh burst onto the scene as a rookie to lead the Detroit Lions in sacks with ten.
A year later, Cliff Avril ended the season as the Lions’ leader in sacks with eleven while Suh’s sack total dropped to four – perhaps partly due to the fact that the Lions used Suh exclusively at left defensive tackle.
Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham is already on the record as saying that Suh will get moved around this year like he was as a rookie. Might that be enough to regain the Lions’ sack crown?
Cliff Avril will be out to prove that his breakout season in 2011 was not a fluke while Suh will get another chance to roam around the defensive front. The safe money is on one of these two to lead the team in sacks in 2012 but perhaps another player is ready for a breakthrough season.
