We all knew it was coming, now it is official:
NFL announces Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is suspended 2 games w/o pay & fined 2 more game checks for violating NFL policy on substance abuse
— Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) June 13, 2012
The suspension will keep Mikel Leshoure off the field for the season opener at Ford Field against the Rams and the week two trip to San Francisco for Sunday Night Football. The punishment also means that Leshoure will play two additional games for free.
At this point it seems likely that Nick Fairley will face at least a two game suspension of his own. The league will likely let the legal process conclude before issuing a punishment of their own.
