Since the NFL Network and NFL.com are currently revealing to us who the top 100 players in the league are, I thought it appropriate to compile a list of the current top 10 Lions. The NFL top 100 is based on voting by the players, but this top 10 will be voted on by, well…me.

It would be too easy to pick ten players based on skill position or stats, so this is a comprehensive list of who I believe will contribute the most to the success of the Lions in their up coming season. This takes into account several factors including: ability, statistics, clutch performance, consistency, injury status, attitude and behavior (MOST Lions stay out of off-season trouble, believe it or not), and any other intangibles that point to helping the organization win. Some are really easy picks, but some may suprise you. So, without further ado…

10. Mikel Leshoure

You may think I already went out on a limb with this one, but I’m trying to keep Leshoures tremendous upside in the forefront of my mind and push aside the off-season issues. Though it’s technically his rookie season, it’s his second in the league and there’s a combination of things that I think will straighten him out onto the path of righteousness. Yes, he’s been in trouble and he’s been injured. He knows this. He also knows that Jahvid Best’s career is up in the air and he has an opportunity to become an asset in the NFL. Already in his young career he needs to decide if he wants to be Laurence Maroney or Rashard Mendenhall. I think he’ll CHOOSE the latter and have a suprisingly good year, especially if Best sustains another injury. If healthy, I say 900 yards and 10 touchdowns. You heard it here first.
