Adam Schefter Praises Detroit Lions

Adam Schefter was recently asked if he thinks the Lions are Super Bowl contenders and while he thinks it would be tough for the Lions to win it all this season due to the strength of the NFC, he did have this to say about the direction the organization is heading:

“If Stafford stays healthy, the Lions should be legitimate playoff contenders the next dozen years. And if they can continue surrounding him with talent, there’s no reason they can’t be a Super Bowl contender every year during that time.”

That’s high praise coming from someone like Schefter who is so well connected and respected in NFL circles.

The Lions have a plethora of talent on offense, but their offensive line is aging. On defense the Lions have made strides to improve their secondary, but only time will tell if the players they have in place are the long term solution.

The Lions have built their team well through draft, and have a nice blend of veteran talent thanks to free agency. If the Lions’ youth plays to their ability there is no reason they can’t live up to Adam Schefter’s expectations.
