Detroit Lions Select Ryan Broyles in Second Round of 2012 NFL Draft

The Detroit Lions have made their second selection of the 2012 NFL Draft:

Who: Ryan Broyles
What: Wide Receiver
Where: Oklahoma
When: Round 2, Pick 22 (54 Overall)
Why: I’m not quite sure. Well, I know why, the Lions have a need four a fourth wide receiver but that doesn’t mean this pick at this spot isn’t a headscratcher. Broyles is one of the prospects profiled on this site so he was certainly on the Lions’ radar. He’s coming off an ACL tear in November but was able to put together a solid pro day to show that he is close to being back to full strength. The pick will be heavily debated, and probably derided, among Lions fans but an offensive mind like Scott Linehan will get a lot of use out of Broyles, even before Nate Burleson is ready to step aside.
