The Detroit Lions have made their third selection of the 2012 NFL Draft:

Who: Dwight Bentley
What: Cornerback
Where: University of Louisiana-Lafayette
When: Round 3, Pick 22 (85 Overall)
Why: This pick fills a need and comes without the need to reach for it. Bentley has average size for a cornerback and has more experience playing zone than man so it is an interesting fit for the Lions who ask their corners to play more man-press than zone. The Lions want versatile corners and they obviously liked what they saw when studying him during the draft process.
