At this point there really isn’t anything that could happen with the Lions’ draft tonight that should surprise anyone. Reports surfaced earlier in the day that the Lions were exploring trading up for Mark Barron and now it is Stephon Gilmore’s name that comes up in connection to the Lions. From Jason La Canfora:
Lions are legitimately pursuing options to trade up. Corner Stephon Gilmore is a player they really like

It isn’t surprising that the Lions are looking into options to move up or down the board, all teams are (or should be) doing that right, but it is surprising that Stephon Gilmore is the name now connected to a possible move up. The Lions pursuit of a corner from this draft has seemingly centered on Dre Kirkpatrick, perhaps because they believed him to be the most likely to be available for them with their pick at 23. If they are truly interested in Gilmore it will take a trade up the board to get him.
