Eric Wright signed a one-year deal with the Lions last offseason in hopes of repairing his image and earning a long term deal, whether that be with the Lions or some other team. Lions fans hoping that Wright was good enough to keep without drawing significant interest elsewhere will be disappointed with this tweet from Pro Football Talk’s Gregg Rosenthal:
Look for Rams to show interest in CB Eric Wright if he reaches free agency.

With Wright probably sitting number four on the Lions priority list behind Cliff Avril, Stephen Tulloch and Jeff Backus, there may not be time for the Lions to turn their attention to getting something done with Wright before the start of free agency on March 13.
Assuming the Rams target Wright as Rosenthal suggests they might, the Lions could be forced out of the running financially given their limited cap space – especially if more teams get involved. If that scenario plays out, look for the Lions to turn their attention to other value-based free agents like Wright was a year ago.
