Today is the last day of the 2011 SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year tournament‘s third round! Take a look at the bracket here.
Who will be the eighth and final player to make our Elite Eight? Polls remain open until midnight on the west coast.
(2 seed) Stephen Tulloch
First Round: bye
Second Round: def Willie Young
The Lions weren’t looking to move DeAndre Levy to the outside but his versatility allowed them to bring in Stephen Tulloch. The move paid off with Tulloch leading the team with 111 tackles. Beyond stuffing the middle, Tulloch had an impact that shows up all over the stat sheet. He recorded three sacks and two interceptions, including one very important pick in the comeback with over the Cowboys. He also scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery against the Vikings. The Lions got what they were looking for when they brought Tulloch to town on a one year deal, now they have to see what they can do to keep him.
(3 seed) Louis Delmas
First Round: def Don Carey
Second Round: def Corey Williams
A Thanksgiving Day injury kept Louis Delmas from playing in the final five regular season games but he still finished as the team’s seventh leading tackler overall. Delmas did recover one fumble but did not record a sack, interception or forced fumble this season. Still, his play-making potential is important in the Lions’ secondary.
