SLR Detroit Lions Player Of The Year Tournament Second Round: Titus Young vs. Kevin Smith

The second round of the 2011 SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year tournament is underway! Take a look at the bracket.

We’re moving back to the offensive side of the bracket today. Who will move on to the Sweet 16?

(4 seed) Titus Young vs. (5 seed) Kevin Smith

The selection of Titus Young in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft caught a lot of observers off guard but it didn’t take long to prove his worth. In his regular season home debut, Young caught five passes for 89 yards and showed a nice set of hands. His six touchdown catches was tied for second best behind Calvin Johnson’s 16.

The Detroit Lions’ running back situation was in rough shape with Mikel Leshoure lost in training camp and Jahvid Best out with a concussion after week six. Kevin Smith was one of about 25 players invited to the Lions’ training facility for a workout during the team’s bye week and was signed and carried the ball four times a week later in Chicago. He really broke out and showed how valuable he could be for the Lions in their push towards the playoffs with a 140 yards on 16 carries, another 61 yards on four receptions and three total touchdowns in the win over Carolina.

Who should advance to the third round of the 2011 SideLion Report Player of the Year Tournament?

  • Titus Young (95%, 19 Votes)
  • Kevin Smith (5%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 20
