SLR Detroit Lions Player Of The Year Tournament Second Round: Kyle Vanden Bosch vs. Nick Fairley

The second round of the 2011 SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year tournament is underway! Take a look at the bracket.

The first second round matchup on the defensive side features one player that received a first round bye and one player that knocked off a mild upset as far as the seeding was concerned. Who will move on to the Sweet 16?

(2 seed) Kyle Vanden Bosch vs. (10 seed) Nick Fairley

The Detroit Lions have undergone a change on the field and in attitude since Jim Schwartz took over and a big part of that transition happened when the team signed Kyle Vanden Bosch as a free agent two years ago. His first season with the team was cut short by a neck injury but he bounced back to record 8 sacks in 2011, his highest sack total in four years and the third highest total of his 10 seasons. KVB also forced four fumbles and was credited with 35 tackles.

Nick Fairley’s professional career got off to a disappointing start with a training camp foot injury. He finally made his debut in week five on Monday Night Football and played in ten regular season games from there on out. Fairley finished the year with 15 tackles and one sack but showed some brilliant flashes that indicates his future is as bright as was expected on draft day.

Who should advance to the third round of the 2011 SideLion Report Player of the Year Tournament?

  • Kyle Vanden Bosch (80%, 24 Votes)
  • Nick Fairley (20%, 6 Votes)

Total Voters: 30
