SideLion Report has great readers so it makes sense that you should have a say in helping us name the SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year. The players have been seeded and placed into a tournament bracket with each matchup determined by a reader vote.
To ensure that everyone has a chance to vote, polls will remain open until midnight on the west coast. At that time, a winner will be declared and the tournament will continue with another matchup the following day.
We’re finishing off the first round on the defensive side of the bracket today. Who will move on to round two?
An week one arm injury ended Aaron Berry’s 2010 season after just one half. The undrafted rookie worked his way back and saw a lot of playing time as a second year player. Berry finished the season without an interception and dropped at least two passes that should have been intercepted in the playoff loss to the Saints to become one of the poster boys for the failures of the Lions’ secondary down the stretch. Still, Berry is a young player with untapped potential.
Nick Fairley’s professional career got off to a disappointing start with a training camp foot injury. He finally made his debut in week five on Monday Night Football and played in ten regular season games from there on out. Fairley finished the year with 15 tackles and one sack but showed some brilliant flashes that indicates his future is as bright as was expected on draft day.
