SLR Detroit Lions Player Of The Year Tournament First Round: Corey Williams vs. Ashlee Palmer

SideLion Report has great readers so it makes sense that you should have a say in helping us name the SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year. The players have been seeded and placed into a tournament bracket with each matchup determined by a reader vote.

To ensure that everyone has a chance to vote, polls will remain open until midnight on the west coast. At that time, a winner will be declared and the tournament will continue with another matchup the following day.

We’re staying on the defensive side of the bracket today. Who will move on to round two?

(6 seed) Corey Williams vs. (11 seed) Ashlee Palmer

Corey Williams wasn’t quite the disruptive force he was for the Lions in 2010 but he remains an important man along the Lions defensive front. He appeared in 15 games for the Lions in 2011 and recorded 31 tackles and two sacks.

A year after getting some defensive snaps because of injuries to the Lions’ linebacking corps, Ashlee Palmer was back in his primary role as a special teams contributor. As such, his tackles total fell from a career high 55 in 2010 to 8 in 2011.

Who should advance to the second round of the 2011 SideLion Report Player of the Year Tournament?

  • Corey Williams (96%, 25 Votes)
  • Ashlee Palmer (4%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 26
