SideLion Report has great readers so it makes sense that you should have a say in helping us name the SideLion Report Detroit Lions player of the year. The players have been seeded and placed into a tournament bracket with each matchup determined by a reader vote.
To ensure that everyone has a chance to vote, polls will remain open until midnight on the west coast. At that time, a winner will be declared and the tournament will continue with another matchup the following day.
We’re staying on the defensive side of the bracket today. Who will move on to round two?
Amari Spievey has come a long way since his first days as a Lion when he was an injured cornerback in need of an immediate position change. He started 15 games during the 2011 regular season and made 70 tackles including one sack and intercepted three passes – all improvements over his rookie year.
Appearing in 13 games as a rookie, Doug Hogue tallied six tackles with his play mostly limited to special teams. Still, that experience should be a big help in his development as a former fifth round pick.
Who should advance to the second round of the 2011 SideLion Report Player of the Year Tournament?
- Amari Spievey (92%, 44 Votes)
- Doug Hogue (8%, 4 Votes)
