Detroit Lions Announce the Signing of Nine Players to Future Contracts

In a move that is more formality than anything else, the Detroit Lions announced the signing of nine players to future/reserve contracts. Essentially, future/reserve contracts are the mechanism by which NFL organizations hold on to their practice squad players from one season to the next.

As such, eight of the players were on the Lions practice squad with one on the practice squad injured reserve. The players are: defensive end Ugo Chinasa, center Dan Gerberry, wide receivers Marcus Harris, Nate Hughes and Terrence Toliver, guard Jaques McClendon, linebacker Slade Norris, tight end Nathan Overbay and defensive back Ross Weaver.
