SLR Game Ball: Detroit Lions Lose But Calvin Johnson Came Up Big

From @SportsCenter on twitter

Teams need their best players to come up big when the playoffs begin and that is just what happened with Calvin Johnson when the Detroit Lions faced off with the Saints.

Calvin Johnson had never played in a playoff game before but he proved that the moment wasn’t too big for him. No Lions fan should have been surprised by this given the way he performed late in the season as the Lions chased down their first playoff appearance since 1999. Including tonight Megatron closed out the year with 711 receiving yards in his last four games.

Calvin Johnson caught a game-high 12 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints to earn this week’s SLR game ball. Considering the things that Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson were able to accomplish late in the 2011 season, the two figure to be consistent SLR game ball recipients in 2012.
