The Detroit Lions' Year in Review: March 2011

March brought about a more in-depth look at a number of NFL draft prospects as the combine concluded on the first. Of course, the increase in interest in the draft brought about a new list of draft busts, on which the Detroit Lions appeared frequently.

ESPN put an end to the debate regarding Calvin Johnson’s elite status by declaring him elite in their power rankings. The same group placed Brandon Pettigrew among the NFL’s best tight ends later in the month.

The NFL lockout was official in place when talks between the owners and players broke down at the deadline forcing the NFLPA to decertify as a union and take the dispute to the courts. If the next iteration of the Madden NFL video game was all the football we’d get, at least Ndamukong Suh was in the running to be the cover athlete.
