The Detroit Lions' Year in Review: June 2011

The dog days of Summer turned out to be the dog days of the NFL lockout, although glimmers of hope began to emerge. With the league still shut down the NFLPA took it upon themselves to put on an educational event to replace the canceled rookie symposium. Fans itching to see the Lions on the field were left with nothing but a few videos of the team in the upcoming Madden NFL video game.

The Lions held player organized workouts in June in which the big story became the attendance, or lack thereof, of Ndamukong Suh. Especially when he did show up for the final day, the same day that NFL Network cameras were scheduled to be on the scene. A media firestorm ensued when Suh brushed off the local media and talked with NFL Network. Suh had apparently taken notice of the various reports noting his absence and didn’t take to kindly to them.

On the lighter side of things, Jim Schwartz chose a winner in his contest to name the Detroit Lions defensive line.
