The Detroit Lions’ Year in Review: September 2011

The Lions finished off a perfect 4-0 preseason with a win over the Buffalo Bills. Yes, the 2008 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason before putting together the league’s first 0-16 season but there was plenty of reason to believe 2011 would be different.

The Lions got their first chance to show things were different and did just that in a 27-20 road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Lions turned around to give the home fans an even better show by beating the defending AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs 48-3.

Those waiting to see how the Lions handled a little adversity had to be impressed with what the Lions did against the Vikings to close out the first month of the season. The game in Minnesota was the 16th of Matthew Stafford’s career, equivalent to one full season.
