The 10-5 Detroit Lions travel to a place they haven’t won in twenty years to face the 14-1 Green Bay Packers. And if you were told that seven of the eight members of ESPN’s panel of experts were in agreement on who they think will win this game, you’d say the Packers, right?
That’s not the way it has turned out.
Eric Allen is the lone expert to pick the Packers while Mike Golic, Merril Hoge, Ron Jaworski, Chris Mortensen, Adam Schefter, Mark Schlereth and Seth Wickersham all like the Lions to win on Sunday.
After running 10,000 simulations, AccuScore gives a slight edge to the Packers by a 50% to 49% split with each team coming out with an average point total of 25.3 points.
Video game simulation in Madden 12 likes the Packers to emerge victorious, but that is based on Aaron Rodgers playing a full game. It is doubtful the actual game plays out that way but the Madden sim led to the following recap:
In what could be a preview of a future playoff match-up, the Packers and Lions air-it-out in Week 17, with Aaron Rodgers throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns to help his team earn the 34-24 victory. Matthew Stafford threw for 304 yards and two scores in the loss.
