Kevin Smith Returns to Practice But Lions Still Have Plenty of Injuries

Kevin Smith has become a surprisingly important player and the ankle injury he sustained on Thanksgiving Day was a significant blow to the team’s chances of beating the Packers. Smith wasn’t able to participate in practice yesterday but he was able to get a few reps in today. Officially, he is listed as a limited participant but even that should be taken as good news. Willie Young‘s ankle injury also limited him in practice, just as he was yesterday.

The list of players that were not able to practice is full of players on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the secondary. Louis Delmas (knee) and Chris Houston (knee) missed practice for a second consecutive day while Brandon McDonald (thigh) missed practice after being a limited participant yesterday. Lawrence Jackson (thigh) was the only other player to miss practice.

Chris Harris (ankle), Doug Hogue (illness), Calvin Johnson (ankle) and Maurice Stovall (shoulder) were also named on the injury report but their ailments did not impact their normal practice routines.
