NFL Fans in Michigan to get an NFC North Smorgasbord on Sunday

Detroit Lions fans interested in keeping up with the NFC North next Sunday will have it pretty easy as long as they are in Michigan. All four NFC North teams will be in action on regular broadcast television across the state.

The NFC North buffet requires split attention during the early games. FOX will show the Denver Broncos playing at the Minnesota Vikings with Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick on the call. CBS will simultaneously be showing the Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears with Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots.

The Green Bay Packers get your undivided attention as they travel to face the New York Giants on FOX in the late afternoon time slot. Joe Buck will be on the play by play with Troy Aikman dropping the occasional piece of knowledge and providing some sort of vocal modulation between plays.

The evening will conclude (the dessert, obviously) with the Lions on Sunday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints. It is the first time the Lions have appeared on Sunday night since NBC won the broadcast rights in 2006. The Lions not only carry the weight of needing to win a tough road game for playoff implications, they also need a decent showing to justify the decision to flex this game into a primetime slot. Do you get the feeling the national types are looking to pile on the Lions? I do, and a poor showing would be a reason to do so.

We’ll be right here on Sunday night to live blog the Lions game against the Saints. We’d love to have you join us to offer your thoughts on the game. Use the box below to set up an email reminder or bookmark this link.
