Indianapolis Colts Getting the Old Lions Band Together for a Run at 0-16

Many thought that no team would ever go 0-16 before the Lions did it in 2008. While the Lions proved the unthinkable task was in fact possible, it figured to be a long time before we saw another winless season. Or so it would have been reasonable to think.

The Indianapolis Colts have gone above and beyond the premise of a basic “suck for Luck” campaign and have positioned themselves for a stretch run towards 0-16. The cruelest detail of their endeavor is the fact that Dan Orlovsky and Ernie Sims, two members of the Lions during the 0-16 season in 2008, are reliving the horror as members of the Colts this season.

It is said that misery loves company. Well, the miserable Orlovsky and Sims will be joined by another member of the ’08 Lions. The Colts announced yesterday that they have claimed fullback Jerome Felton off waivers from the Carolina Panthers.

With Dan Orlovsky to run out the back of the end zone for a safety, Ernie Sims to over-pursue, and Jerome Felton to fail in short yardage situations and fumble at the worst possible times, the Indianapolis Colts are on their way to supplanting the Lions as the league’s most recent winless season.
