Detroit Lions Put Jason Fox on IR, Sign Punter

With punter Ryan Donahue’s availability in doubt, the Lions signed Robert Malone, who punted for the Bucs last season, as an insurance policy. Offensive lineman Jason Fox was put on injured reserve to free up the roster spot. Fox was still dealing with lingering issues related to the foot issue that has kept him out of action all season but injured his knee yesterday and will undergo surgery.

Donahue was at practice today but it is not known if he will be able to punt due to a quad injury. He has been holding kicks this week and may do so on Sunday while Malone handles the punting duties. At the very least, brining in Malone gives the Lions some flexibility.
