Leonard Davis was the first player that we learned would be joining the Lions following the bye week in which the team worked out a total of 24 men. Now, Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Lions will be bringing back running back Kevin Smith.

Lions are bringing back RB Kevin Smith, per league source.

Smith ran for 976 yards and eight touchdowns for the Lions during his rookie year of 2008 but had his career derailed by an ACL injury the following year. He returned in 2010 but was found himself on IR once again and was not tendered a contract. Kevin Smith has not played this season but he had previously worked out for the New England Patriots.

Kevin Smith had the following to say earlier today via twitter:

It feels Good to be back with the lions. Want to thank the front office and coachs for this humbling opportunity. Thanks to all my fans and supporters.
