Before I get to the picks for week eight, let’s take a quick look back at my picks for week seven:
Atlanta Falcons (+3.5) at Detroit Lions – WIN
San Diego Chargers (-2) at New York Jets – LOSS
Denver Broncos (+1.5) at Miami Dolphins – WIN
Green Bay Packers (-8.5) at Minnesota Vikings – LOSS
Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars – LOSS
Philip Rivers decided to throw a game away and the Ravens drop a stinker on Monday Night Football. Thanks for making me look bad, guys. My season record against the spread sits at a less than stellar 4-5-1.
Moving on with five more games this week…
This week looks like a tough card of games to pick. I’ll say upfront that I’m not in love with a lot of these games but we’ll roll with it and see what happens. As always, check out Free Sports Bet for a free and legal way to play along or to pick any other game from virtually any sport played on earth.
Detroit Lions (-3) at Denver Broncos
Let’s be honest, the Lions should win this game. The question becomes, can they do it by more than a field goal? I won’t discount Tim Tebow and the Broncos’ ability to make it interesting in the fourth quarter but the Lions should come out on top by more than three.
New Orleans Saints (-13.5) at St. Louis Rams
13.5 points is a lot to lay on the road but the Saints are rolling and the Rams are a mess. Sam Bradford may miss another game and the Saints proved what they can do to a hurting team last week.
Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Seattle Seahawks
The Bengals may have a rookie quarterback but that hasn’t hurt them yet this year. They play great defense while the Seahawks are offensively challenged. The trip to the West Coast might be worrisome to some but the Bengals are well rested coming off their bye week.
Dallas Cowboys (+3) at Philadelphia Eagles
Forget all the hype surrounding the Eagles, it is the Cowboys that may be the NFC East’s best team. That being the case, I’m happy to get three points for free, especially with the issues the Eagles are having on defense.
Kansas City Chiefs (+4) vs. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers aren’t a team that displays any sort of killer instinct and the Arrowhead crowd will be rocking for Monday Night Football.
