The practice week got off to a start with a mixed bag of news. Matthew Stafford was dressed for practice and participated on a limited basis despite injuring his leg on the last offensive play for the Lions last week. There is no guarantee that he will play on Sunday but there isn’t any reason to believe he won’t based on what we know now. The Lions could have easily held Stafford out of practice but the fact that he was even a limited participant should be considered a positive.
The news concerning Jahvid Best and his concussion is less encouraging. Jim Schwartz has maintained that Best is considered day-to-day when speaking publicly this week but Best did not participate in practice today and reports are starting to circulate that he is unlikely to face the Broncos.
Joining Stafford as limited participants at practice were Vincent Fuller (elbow) and Willie Young (calf). Both players were inactive last week. Young injured his calf late in the week and was a somewhat surprising scratch. His prospects of playing this week are quite good.
Jahvid Best was joined on the sidelines by Kyle Vanden Bosch (rest), Gosder Cherilus (knee), Rashied Davis (foot), Nick Fairley (foot), Sammie Hill (ankle) and Chris Houston (back). Status for game day will become more clear as the week progresses.
