Detroit Lions Favored by More than Vegas to Beat San Francisco 49ers

The Detroit Lions have rewarded those that have been picking them to win. The majority of the ESPN panel of experts have padded their season picks record by rolling with the hot Lions. Seth Wickersham was on board with the Lions early but has fallen off the ship lately. He’s been burned by picking against the Lions the last two weeks and he’s back at it again with his pick of the 49ers. This time he’s joined by Mike Golic, the only other member of ESPN’s eight person panel of experts to pick the 49ers to win on Sunday.

Wickersham and Golic will be looking at another loss on their record if the simulations from AccuScore and Madden 12 turn out to be true. AccuScore’s 10,000 simulations peg the Lions as favorites by a 57% to 43% split.

The Madden 12 simulation predicts another big game from Calvin Johnson, here is a quick recap:

When the schedule first came out, how many people had San Francisco at Detroit as the possible game of the week? But that’s what happens when 4-1 meets 5-0, as two of the league’s biggest surprises do battle. The “Madden” sim predicts Detroit domination, though, as Matthew Stafford throws for 289 yards and three touchdowns in the 34-20 win.
