San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions to Play Surprisingly Big Game

No one would have guessed that the Detroit Lions matchup against the San Francisco 49ers would be one of the week six headliners. The game will be widely seen throughout the Great Lakes and Western United States and a number of other locations without games of local interest airing in the early time slot on FOX. (see coverage map)

FOX thinks enough of the game to send their number two broadcast team to Detroit. Kenny Albert will be on the play-by-play with Daryl Johnston offering analysis from the booth and Tony Siragusa contributing from field level.

A win for the 49ers would give them a strong grip on the NFC West race while a Lions win will set them up in nice playoffs position just six weeks into the season and would further elevate their status among the NFC’s elite.
