SLR Game Balls: Two Detroit Lions Emerge Most Deserving

An epic comeback win makes for a lot of players that deserve recognition but it also means there are a lot to blame for getting behind the eight ball like the Lions did today.

Looking at the game as a whole, I picked out two players to honor with SLR game balls this week.

Jason Hanson: He’s the only current Detroit Lion that had won a game in the Metrodome and thanks to his great kicking today he will leave with a plane full of Lions that know the taste of victory in the land of 10,000 lakes. Hanson was perfect on field goal attempts, connecting from 28, 50, 40, 49 and 32 yards to give the Lions just what they needed to emerge victorious. Simply put, the Lions have a much harder time winning this game without their veteran kicker.

Calvin Johnson: Matthew Stafford deserves some credit as the guy throwing Calvin Johnson the ball but a few of those passes probably aren’t competed without a talent like Calvin Johnson to thrown to. Megatron pulled down a 32-yard jump ball to score the Lions’ opening touchdown and it was his over the shoulder fingertip catch that put the Lions in position for their winning field goal. CJ finished the day with seven catches for 108 yards and two more touchdowns.
