Detroit Lions Win a New Way, Minnesota Vikings Lose the Same Way

What we saw from the Detroit Lions today is anything but commonplace. They won in Minnesota for the first time since 1997. They are 3-0 for the first time since 1980. They came from behind after winning the first two games in comfortable fashion. The end of the day result was the same as in weeks one and two but the path to that result was much different.

However, this game was all too familiar to Vikings fans. In week one the Vikings jumped on top of the San Diego Chargers only to let it slip away. In week two the Vikings had the Buccaneers down 17-0 at halftime but gave up a couple late scores to lose. This week they led the Lions 20-0 at halftime and couldn’t hold on to that lead either.

How bad has it been in totality? The Vikings have outscored their opponents 54-7 in the first half only to be outscored 67-6 in the second. Add it up and the Vikings are 0-3 thanks to a defined problem that the coaching staff has not been able to answer.
