Nick Fairley Returns to Practice for Detroit Lions

Lions fans got the best injury news they could have hoped for today; Nick Fairley is back at practice.

It has been a while since Nick Fairley participated in team drills but I guess I didn’t realize exactly how long it has been. Dave Birkett gives us a reminder:

Nick Fairley dressed for Lions practice, taking part in individual drills for the first time since fracturing his foot Aug 1

Hitting the practice field must have felt great to Fairley and it had an effect on his teammates as well. Tim Twentyman reported the following on twitter:

Nick Fairley is participating in drills, too. The guys seem pretty amped up to have him out there

The next question will be “when will he play?” but don’t count on Jim Schwartz giving a direct answer to that. We will likely have to wait another week before we know whether the Lions will start working him in during their week four game in Dallas or wait until Monday Night Football in week five.
