I wasn’t implying that it was intended, simply that it is true. If the Lions’ offense wasn’t as explosive, and able to build leads early, teams would be able to run the ball and wear down the defense more effectively due to the imperfections and weaknesses in personnel.

Good article, except the “Offense built to compliment the defense” bit. The defense is built around Schwartz and Gun’s “attack the ball” style defense. Dominant line with quick LB’s. As per Schwartz, the defense is built to allow Stafford the freedom to be a slinger, not the other way around. It may work out that way, but it was never the intention.
