Note to the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings – the road to the Super Bowl is again going through Lambeau Field.

You could probably give Bill Keenist most any other date from 2001, and he wouldn’t have any idea what day of the week it fell on.

But September 11 of that year is a different story. The Detroit Lions’ senior vice president of communications remembers that date vividly.

Matthew Stafford has a big arm and many of the skills that come along with being a great quarterback in the National Football League. The problem for Stafford is that he has only played in thirteen of a possible thirty two games the past two seasons. A great deal of hype exists around Stafford, which comes along with him as the first pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions were publicly- traded stocks instead of privately-owned football franchises, they’d both be the talk of CNBC, not ESPN.

And the smart-money advice for both teams, which will face one another at Raymond James Stadium on the eve of the 2011 season — Buy.
