The luncheon may have been held to kick off the 2011 season but the Detroit Lions took some time to look back in the form of 2010 team awards.

Some losing teams end up with awards winners that might have to accept with a sheepish grin. That isn’t the case with the 2010 Lions according to team president Tom Lewand based on his quote from the podium:

This is the first time all the award winners are players all 31 teams would trade for.

Detroit Lions-Buffalo Bills Q&A with BuffaLowDown

The Detroit Lions will complete their preseason schedule Thursday with a game against the Buffalo Bills. Lions fans probably don’t want to remember back to that rainy Sunday afternoon when the Lions gave the Bills their first win of the 2010 season. Fortunately, the mood surrounding the team is much better this time around.

I caught up with Brad Andrews, a Bills blogger at BuffaLowDown, to get his take on the Bills this season and a couple things to look for from a Bills perspective during the game.

The Detroit Lions – Finally A Professional Organization

So far in the NFL this year, the Chicago Bears have informed a veteran running back, Chester Taylor, that he was being released. After he had left the team facilities, he was then called back to the building by the team, who then told him it was a mistake and that he was still gainfully employed. This incident follows several other blunders by the Bears, including having 10,000 fans show up for a practice, only to turn them away when the field was deemed unsuitable, and consummating a trade with the Ravens but neglecting to tell anyone at the NFL head office about it, thus negating the trade and costing the Ravens two draft spots.

The Miami Dolphins reportedly offered their head coaching position to Jim Harbaugh at the end of the 2010 season after a whirlwind courtship. This was widely reported in the press. The only problem? They hadn’t fired their existing head coach – and have since retained him for the 2011 season.
