Poll: The Detroit Lions Bandwagon

Can you feel it already? One by one Lions fans are returning to the bandwagon.

The same thing happened with the Detroit Tigers five years ago. The team was playing well and fans flocked to Comerica Park to see the boys of summer play surprisingly good baseball. The atmosphere was exciting but there was a tendency for friction to build between a split fanbase: those that had stuck around through the 119-loss season of 2003 and those that returned with the good times.

Perhaps the euphoria of a successful Lions season would be so powerful it would overwhelm any such feelings between Lions fans but I don’t doubt it has the potential to show up should the Lions put themselves in playoff contention. Nearly a fifth of the crowd at Ford Field this year will be made up of people that purchased new season ticket packages prior to this season. Beyond season ticket sales, the team will garner more attention on radio and television broadcasts as well.

The question needs to be asked, is there anything “wrong” with bandwagon fans?

Should fans get any grief for jumping on the Detroit Lions bandwagon?
