Detroit Lions Release Jack Williams and Korey Bosworth

The Lions are apparently content with their stable of cornerbacks that will compete for playing time. Today they announced the release of Jack Williams who spent last season on injured reserve.

He is likely a victim of the cornerback numbers game thanks to the additions of Chris Houston and Eric Wright along with strong performances of Nathan Vasher and Aaron Berry so far in training camp. Alphonso Smith will also enter the mix when he returns from injury. Some thought that Williams could push for some playing time so an early camp release may be in his best interest to find a place where he truly can contribute.

The other player on his way out of camp is linebacker Korey Bosworth. He signed mid-season last year but did not appear in a game.

Defensive end Greg Banks, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Michigan, has joined Lions camp.
