Roy Williams Set to Return to the NFC North with Chicago Bears

It sounds like Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams is returning to the NFC North but it isn’t due to a reunion with his former team. Instead, he will rejoin former coaches Rod Marinelli and Mike Martz in Chicago.

[Editorial note: an agreement between the Bears and Williams was initially reported this morning although that report is being backed off of now due to technicalities in the timing of Williams' release and when negotiations are allowed to begin. That being said, this deal appears imminent]

The Bears are seemingly always in need of a wide receiver and they now turn to Roy Williams for help. He was still a productive player when Martin Mayhew fleeced Jerry Jones in the trade that sent him to Dallas but what happened upon his arrival is inexplicable. Roy is proof that homecomings don’t always have happy endings.

Note to Chicago-are pizza delivery people: Roy didn’t used to tip but he does now, enjoy.

The good news is that if he’s still as cheap as he was when he was with the Lions, Roy can share a moving van with fellow former Cowboy Sam Hurd who will reportedly also join the Bears.
