Detroit Lions Reach Agreement With CB Eric Wright on One-Year Deal

The Detroit Lions have reached an agreement with free agent cornerback Eric Wright. News of Wright’s agreement with the Lions started as twitter rumors but was confirmed by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

Can confirm CB Eric Wright to the Lions on a one-year deal. Things heated up after Lions missed out on Johnathan Joseph, obviously

Eric Wright was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the second round, 53rd overall, and played his college ball at UNLV. Wright spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns and has nine career interceptions. He started every game in 2008 and 2009 and started 10 in 2010 before falling out of favor in Cleveland so this may be somewhat of a reclamation project. The one-year deal shows a low level of commitment, although they may be looking for him to come in and prove himself like Chris Houston a year ago.

This move is a step towards adding depth but I still don’t feel the Lions are set at cornerback. Keep and eye on Chris Houston and Richard Marshall as potential targets from here on out.
