I went to sleep last night expecting to wake up to the news that the Lions have signed a linebacker and a certain corner from the Bengals with the initials of J.J.. Instead, I had this crazy dream that Peter King was on a national non-sports talk show and kinda picked the Lions to go to the SUPER BOWL.
I went about my usual morning routine of checking out what happened the day before on the computer- (seriously, the greatest invention since the wheel). Lo and behold one of the first things to pop up was a comment by Peter King on the “Morning Joe” show at MSNBC. He mentioned the Detroit Lions and the Super Bowl in the same sentence with a straight face. Host Willie Geist asked King:
“So if I had to put a gun to you on the spot right now, nothing like a Super Bowl prediction in July, but who would you put in the game?”
King: We’ll I’m going to give you a little bit of an upset, maybe. But I think the Detroit Lions might…
Geist:”In Super Bowl?”
At this point, Geist is probably thinking-who booked this clown?
King: Might, MIGHT!, but I want to see what they do in Free Agency.
Geist: Peter, you’ve lost your mind.”
King: I Know I have.
Geist: Peter King just said the DETROIT LIONS might be in the Super Bowl.”
I know that King is trying to be entertaining and going for shock value, but to pass on the recognized leaders, such as the Packers, Patriots and Steelers and mention the Lions on national TV is a step in the right direction.
I interpet the word he repeated three times, MIGHT, A little differently than other people do.To me the three MIGHTS represent why King said their name and not another team’s:
1-Matthew Stafford MIGHT stay healthy and show the world his skills.
2-The offense is MIGHTY frightening.
3-The defensive line is the MIGHTIEST of them all.
