Johnny Culbreath was the first Lions rookie to agree to a contract when he and the team agreed to terms yesterday. Fifth round pick Doug Hogue and second round pick Mikel LeShoure did the same today.
Hogue’s agent, David Canter, let out the news on twitter:
Congratulations to DEC MANAGEMENT client @Doug_hogue for officially signing his 5th round contract with the Detroit Lions
LeShoure announced his deal himself on twitter:
Agreed to terms. Ready to get to work. Looking forward to a great season and career with the Lions.
Next up: Nick Fairley and Titus Young. Those two should be quick to follow as the new rules regarding rookie contracts seem to be working nicely – for all involved. NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora gave his impression on twitter:
Kudos to those who designed this rookie system. Early returns: quick signings (no holdouts) a tradeoff for guaranteed contracts. Win/Win…
Good news considering the football activities that have already been missed.
