Detroit Lions Have Agreed to Terms with John Wendling and Drew Stanton

John Wendling was a special teams ace last year and one of the big reasons Nick Harris didn’t have more punts resulting in touchbacks last season. His role prevents him from becoming a household name but the Lions obviously made it a priority to retain his services. They did just that according to Chris McCosky:

#Lions have agreed to terms with UFA John Wendling — 3-yr deal, $2.75 million. Cap hit for this year — $1.3m

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Lions have agreed to terms with another of their own free agents, backup quarterback Drew Stanton:

QB Drew Stanton has agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with the Lions.

Stanton will remain the third quarterback on the roster but the team can have confidence in him if a (horrific) scenario plays out where he needs to play.
