Detroit Lions Could Report to Training Camp on Thursday

Football fans may be tired of hearing of possible schedules but here is another. ESPN NFC West blogger Mike Sando took the time table reported by ESPN and combined it with the preseason schedule to estimate when each club would report for training camp.

From Sando’s post on ESPN.com:

Using that 15-day buffer, we can reasonably deduce that teams playing games on Aug. 11 could begin reporting Wednesday. Thursday would make sense for teams opening Aug. 12. Friday would make sense for teams opening Aug. 13. Sunday would make sense for the two teams playing Aug. 15.

The Lions begin preseason play on August 12, making Thursday their potential reporting day. Day one is the day for physical examinations with on-field practice beginning on day two and the first hitting taking place on day four. Assuming Mike Sando is right, the medical facilities could be quite busy on Thursday with the Lions holding their first workout on Friday and finally getting to hit each other on Sunday.

A lot has to happen in just a matter of days before we know for sure, but this is a good guess based on what we know now.
