A lot of Lions fans were giddy when the team was able to select Nick Fairley with the 13th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft as many felt the Lions were getting a top ten talent despite sitting three picks outside that range. While that may be the case eventually, the initial Madden ratings leaves Fairley outside the top ten among rookies.

Who did the Madden team rate as the top ten rookies in the game? Here they are in reverse order:

10. Robert Quinn – DE – STL – 78 OVR

9. Julio Jones – WR, ATL – 78 OVR

8. Mark Ingram – RB – NO – 79 OVR

7. Mike Pouncey – OL – MIA – 79 OVR

6. Von Miller – OLB – DEN – 79 OVR

5. J.J. Watt – DE – HOU – 80 OVR

4. A.J. Green – WR – CIN – 80 OVR

3. Prince Amukamara – CB – NYG – 81 OVR

2. Marcell Dareus – DE – BUF – 82 OVR

1. Patrick Peterson – CB – ARZ – 82 OVR

You’ll notice a lot of names that a lot of Lions fans coveted ahead of the draft. I can’t say I have much of a gripe against anyone in the top ten but I was surprised to see Prince Amukamara as high as he is considering the mixed opinions on his game and his draft day fall compared to where many predicted he would be selected.

While I’m on the topic of Madden 12, did you see the post from earlier today about your opportunity to get the game for $15 off the MSRP with free shipping? Check it out.
