The Minnesota Vikings Are No Longer Homeless

The Detroit Lions put on an impressive display of hospitality in the wake of the Metrodome roof collapse last December. It was tough for some Lions fans to see the organization be so accommodating to a division rival but recent work on the Vikings’ home will ensure they won’t be in that position again.

The repairs to the Metrodome roof are complete and dome was re-inflated yesterday. There are a few videos on youtube and they are pretty cool to see. Here is one:

There will be a few more construction activities to get the Metrodome ready for an NFL game but those are expected to be completed by August 1. A determination whether or not the playing surface needs to be replaced will be made at a later date, although that could be completed by August 18 if necessary. The Vikings don’t play their first home preseason game until August 27, assuming the lockout does not alter the preseason schedule.
