Team Source: Nnamdi Asomugha Too Expensive for Detroit Lions

by Free Agency

Bad news Lions fans, it sounds like we won’t even get to the opening of free agency before our fun is crushed. A new report from Detroit Free Press Lions beat writer Dave Birkett cites a team sources as follows:

Asomugha, who could command $18 million per year as the best available free agent, likely will be “too expensive” for the Lions, according to a team source.

So, how about Johnathan Joseph? A tweet from the Pro Football Focus twitter account suggests that him as much more than a consolation prize:

If Detroit wants to spend, a signing like Jonathan Joseph completely transforms that secondary into a reasonable looking outfit

While this news may disappoint a number of fans, I think a lot of them knew this would probably be the case. The good news is that there are a number of great cornerbacks to be had once free agency opens.
